Hip Pain

The hip joint consists of multiple structures which means pain can be the result of a variety of causes. The initiation of the pain isn’t always as obvious as a traumatic injury, and can vary in strength from a dull ache to a throbbing or stabbing pain. Often times, people will complain of discomfort in other areas of the body when in fact the cause of the pain stems from the hip joint.

Symptoms may include:

  • Pain with prolonged sitting or standing
  • Limited range of motion
  • Stabbing, throbbing or achy pain surrounding the hip joint
  • Pain in the thigh area
  • Discomfort around the groin or glutes

Our physical therapists can provide a comprehensive evaluation to determine whether your pain is caused by an impingement, arthritis, bursitis, pinched nerves, hernia, tendonitis or other causes. We’re also well-qualified to recognize when patients demonstrate conditions that should be evaluated by other healthcare professionals and will suggest a referral to other healthcare providers if necessary.
