This is a much overdue review. I was dealing with tendinitis for almost a year and tried everything: multiple podiatrists, acupuncture, orthotics, etc., but nothing was really working. The pain and limited mobility were affecting my mental health. Fortunately, my PCP referred me to Pro Active Therapy in Englewood because she heard that they were the best in town- she was spot on. The providers here were extremely skilled, patient, kind, and supportive through a 4 month recovery process. I healed so well that I was able to walk 8 to 10 hour days for a 2 week trip in Japan, something I wasn’t sure I was able to do prior to getting treatment. A bonus is the friendly and inviting vibe the staff has cultivated, and there were always plenty of laughs and fun music choices. I cannot recommend Pro Active Therapy enough!

Great experience at Pro Active Physical Therapy. I had two knee replacements 12 weeks apart and have been seeing a physical therapist for six months. Nick was my primary therapist. He is encouraging, compassionate, and a good listener. He also worked me hard, which has led to my recovery. I also saw Ricky or Abby occasionally. They have a great team there and the therapists work together to provide holistic care. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

I had knee replacement surgery and immediately when I started my rehab, I knew I was in great hands with Pro Active! Abby and her team know their PT business (and then some). Not only was I directed accordingly, but they were understanding and caring but each and every session, I improved in my rehab. From the start, I had a 90-day goal to be able to walk for miles everyday through the streets of southern France and the Amalfi Coast, as my wife and I were celebrating our 25th anniversary. And thanks to Abby and her team, we had an amazing vacation. I highly recommend Pro Active!!

Ricky and his team are best in class! I've been to a dozen other PTs around the Denver metro and can honestly say they're a profoundly better experience. I have been going to Pro Active for recovery from a knee arthroscopy and have gotten stronger and have less pain. Ricky is in tune with any changes with my symptoms and modifies each session based on how things are developing. I'm finally able to squat again, which is a major milestone. I've observed the same level of care with the other PTs working there. They also have all the tools needed to be effective, including things many other PTs do not have; dry needling, cupping, etc. It's a fun environment too - don't forget to wear your Hawaiian shirt on Thursdays!

ALERT: THIS IS A PT MILL. DO NOT GO HERE. After ACL, medial meniscus, and lateral meniscus surgery, I began physical therapy here. The physical therapists work with you for no more than 5 minutes, and it’s a different PT every visit. They then hand you off to an assistant with a sticky note of exercises to complete — someone who is not a certified PTA — while the PT returns to their computer. They do not properly monitor the exercises or make necessary corrections. I had been performing one exercise incorrectly for over 2 weeks when Abbey (PT) finally walked over and said, “No, no, no, you’re doing it wrong.” I told her I had been doing it that way for two weeks, and no one had corrected me. I was extremely frustrated. I was in extreme pain taking no pain medications and worked incredibly hard after surgery as I’m a former athlete and took my recovery seriously. Unfortunately, they did not take my therapy seriously. I ended up at Back To Motion Physical Therapy, where the same fully licensed PT works with you one-on-one in a private room for the same price. They have a zero gravity treadmill and many other new tools Pro Active does not. THIS is how physical therapy is supposed to be done. Since leaving, I have heard similar stories from many other friends in town. I will never recommend Pro Active, and I will never return here again.

Commonly Asked Questions & What to Expect During Your PT Treatment

Do I need to see a doctor first?

Thanks to direct access, we can see any patient without a referral from a doctor for an initial evaluation. If our therapists believe that physical therapy is a good option for your needs, we can work with you and your physician to obtain a prescription for continued care. If your diagnosis requires additional expertise, we can also refer you to a specialist to handle your care.

What do I need to bring to my first visit?

For your first visit, be sure to bring the following items:

  • Prescription for physical therapy from your referring physician (if applicable)
  • Government issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license)
  • Insurance card(s)
  • Patient forms, which can be downloaded from this site in PDF format. Print and fill out the forms completely and bring them during your first visit.
  • Patients who are minors (under 18 years of age) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for their first visit.

What should I wear to physical therapy?

Please wear or bring comfortable athletic/workout clothing to change into. This includes shorts or sweatpants, a t-shirt and sneakers. Your attire should also allow easy access to your injured area for treatment by your physical therapist.

What can I expect during my first visit?

During your first visit, your therapist will perform a thorough examination, in which he or she will review your physician’s recommendations, examine the problem area, ask questions about your injury or pain, develop an effective treatment plan for rehabilitation, discuss their findings with you and answer any questions you may have. Your treatment plan may include hands-on, manual therapy, a customized exercise program, stretching and physical agents such as heat, ice, ultrasound and electrical stimulation. Your physical therapist may also recommend a home program to further assist in your treatment.

How long will my appointment take?

Your first appointment will typically last from 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on your injury. Following appointments usually last between 30 minutes and an hour, depending on the treatment. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your appointment for check-in and paperwork. You can also download our patient forms, which can be filled out beforehand and brought with to your appointment.

How often will I need to come?

The frequency of your treatment will depend on your physician’s prescription and the plan of care developed by your physical therapist. Most patients require treatment two to three times per week. The duration of treatment will depend on your injury and personal progress. Your physical therapist will discuss this with you following your initial exam and subsequently as you progress.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?

If you are unable to attend an appointment, we require at least 24 hours' notice. However, we do understand than an occasional emergency or illness may arise, in which case you may have to cancel your appointment closer to your scheduled time.

Do you accept insurances? Will insurance cover my therapy?

We accept most major insurances including Medicare, Tricare and workers’ compensation plans. Before your initial visit, we will verify in and out of network benefits with your insurance company. The cost of therapy is determined by the benefits of your insurance plan, including the deductible and co-pay, or patient percentage. We are happy to check with your insurance company to determine the terms of your coverage. Payment for patient responsibility is due at the time of service.
